内容記述 | “Love is Art, Struggle is Beauty.” This remark was left in Rokuzan’s (Ogiwara Morie’s) notebook as his own observation. One year after his death, this writing was discovered in his literary remains, called “Chohkokushinzui,” which published on April 20, in 1911. Thereafter, this remark became widely known. It is not too much to say that the masterpiece in modern Meiji sculpture “Onno” (a National Cultural Treasure) was an excellent model taken from this writing, and this masterpiece “Onno” conceivably was the expression of his dear one Sohma Kokkoh’s (Ryo’s) face. Therefore, sometimes “Love is Art, Struggle is Beauty.” was a comment with a romantic image. However, what was Rokuzan’s real intention in his writing? This thesis is a consideration of Rokuzan’s English writing as conceivably his motto and/or the core of his ideology, treading in his steps of his faith and his art. | |||||
