Because of profound physical and spiritual agony, he once tried to commit suicide but was restored to “life” through this mystical experience in which he saw, he says, a mystical power of Life. This gave him the belief that the Cosmic Life he felt within himself also controls the entire universe. He called this power “Deity as Life.” The power of the deity reveals itself as love, and Kagawa found its complete revelation in the life of Jesus, especially in his acts of redemptive love. This led him to live a life in imitation of Jesus. Kagawa’s concept of Christian faith may differ somewhat from that of ordinary Protestants, but his thought and life should be evaluated for their uniqueness and originality in the history of Japanese Christianity.}, pages = {1--15}, title = {賀川豊彦試論 : その信の世界を中心に}, volume = {第9巻}, year = {1997}, yomi = {ウヌマ, ヒロコ} }
