Nihonshoki is a book of recorded history. However, Nihonshoki continued to exert a strong influence on the world of the 31-syllable Japanese poetry (和歌) and on Japanese thought. This was because Nihonshoki became the orthodox, official history of the Country. In the process, Nihonshoki changes the original world little by little, but in the later half of the Heian (平安) period the world was not necessarily a world faithful to the original text. None the less, Nihonshoki continued to be considered the orthodox quthority.
