Bam, an able homemaker, plays the role of Kero’s mother, but Bam and Kero are not truly parent and child.  Their ages and genders remain uncertain, and their relationship is extremely ambiguous.  Bam, who acts as an adult on some occasions and a child on others, is simultaneously Kero’s reliable guardian and playmate.  Although the two live in a house together as a family, it seems that they are playacting at housekeeping.  By removing the parent?child relationship from the familial context, this series produces a comfortable space, free of duties and responsibilities that can cause stress.  Thus, the world of Bam and Kero provides readers with a sense of liberation and consolation.
