 note = {The Arawaka World School Project is headed by the Arakawa Ward Board of Education and is a part of the students’ education. It is a five-day summer camp for sixth graders held in Kiyosato, Yamanashi Prefecture. About 150 students attend the program every year. The objective of the program is not only to improve English, but also to encourage children to foster good social relations and learn practical skills. As a program coordinator, I have been involved in developing this project for the past three years. After reviewing the World School Project, this paper will examine the situational syllabus to see if it is effective in promoting speaking in natural contexts and discuss how to offer authentic situations in English conversation at the elementary school level.},
