As lesson studies using ICT equipment gain popularity, what kind of value will teachers’ handmade teaching methods have? Focusing on the panel theater, a handmade teaching method, we decided to examine its value. In 2002, I gave a class using a Panel theater in Australia. I asked the teachers who participated in the class to write down their impressions of the class and analyzed and considered them. The results showed that the value of handmade teaching methods is that (1) the contents of the explanation, speed, and presentation can be freely changed by the teacher’s ad lib, and (2) the teacher’s thoughts and ideas about the lesson can be realized.
