How does the picture book function as a medium between the child and the adult? This question was considered from 3 viewpoints: the structure of the picture book, the cognitive structure of the picture book, and the relationship of parent and child through picture books. This study makes clear that, when a picture book is used by a child and an adult who has higher cognitive skills than the child, a restricted environment is created.
