However, the chapter on debate was deleted from the third edition of the book and debate was not practiced any more in high school Japanese departments. In this way, guidance in the usage of language, especially in discussion, weakened and is behind the present lack of guidance in language usage and discussion. The present study compares the first edition, the third edition, and the teacher’s manuals for both of these editions in order to explore how the subject of debate was dealt with in the revised edition of the Sanseido textbook. Through this comparison, this paper will make clear that the revised edition placed particular emphasis on the forms of debate without dealing with the ways in which debate should actually be practiced}, pages = {89--103}, title = {三省堂高等学校教科書『新国語改訂版』(1951年検定)における討論・討議とディベートの扱い}, volume = {第23巻}, year = {2011}, yomi = {クマガイ, ヨシロウ} }
