Without the concept and development of the National Park, bio-diversity would have vanished forever. And America ’s national parks are an indispensible resort for people to refresh and recreate themselves, as well. The story of the national parks is the story of the American people. Since its beginning, the National Parkhas swung between two missions: preserving nature and providing accessibility for the present and future generations. The conflict between these dual missions has been the driving force in making and developing the National Park system for 150 years. In the process of the establishment of Yosemite and Yellowstone National Parks as the first national parks in the world we find the efforts made through the struggle between those engaged in these dual missions. It is worth learning the birth story of the two parks, which are the fruit of ‘America’s Best Idea’ to broaden our horizon of environmental conservation.}, pages = {59--73}, title = {国立公園創設の経緯 : 原自然の保護か 資源の利用か}, volume = {第24巻}, year = {2011}, yomi = {ムラカミ, キミヒサ} }
