These letters reveal his struggle with despair and resignation regarding his love. This desperate struggle shows up in his failure in business and in his personality. But though this struggle he encountered God and experienced a resurrection in his life. In these letters we can see hisself-denial and self-affirmation. Through his encounter with God he moved from horizontal thinking, i.e. considering only this world and human society, to perpendicular thinking, seeing things in relation to God and the Eternal. This became the basis of his literary work and his criticism.}, pages = {1--21}, title = {透谷文学形成期の問題(三) : 書簡類の検討(後編)}, volume = {第4巻}, year = {1991}, yomi = {クロキ, アキラ} }
