But all the people in the nursery, both infants and nursery teachers, were able to find refuge from the tsunami and be safe. At the Yuriage nursery school, before the great earthquake, nursery teachers reexamined the safety manual for what to do in the case of a tsunami, and as a result completely changed the evacuation route, evacuation sites, means of escape, etc. Nursery teachers also took into consideration what kinds of refuge were available, what shelters there were, and the consequences of leaving the nursery for another site.
